(Rock Island, IL) -- It'll be a bumper crop in Iowa and Illinois this year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is forecasting average corn yield will rise 4% this year to set a record in Iowa, and be up over 9% in Illinois.
Taylor Ridge, Illinois farmer Phil Fuhr tells WQAD News 8 that weather conditions were perfect for corn growing this summer.
Fuhr adds that the abundance of corn is forcing prices down, and there are some worries about space to store the harvest in the Midwest.
The USDA says soybean yields will be up around 5% over last year in both Iowa and Illinois.
