Search Continues For Aggressive Water Buffalo East Of Des Moines

(Pleasant Hill, IA) -- A search continues for an Asian water buffalo, on the loose in Pleasant Hill, in eastern Polk County. Police say it got away from its owner over the weekend and wandered into traffic on East University. Police say the animal became aggressive and officers fired a shotgun round, injuring it.

Police say the animal was last seen in Little Fourmile Creek heading southbound toward Scott Avenue and Oakwood Drive. The Sheriff's Office is using a drone and officers are using ATVs to search bicycle trails along the creek to try and locate the animal.

Police say if you see it, do not approach and and call the Pleasant Hill Police Department at 515-265-1444.
