(Iowa) -- A Las Vegas man is convicted of second-degree murder following a shooting at a bar in the Drake area.

A Polk County jury convicted 35 year-old James Wiggins of the fatal shooting that happened in December of 2022. Wiggins claims he was acting in self-defense, though prosecutors argued that the deadly shooting of Tyrone Hutchins was planned. A second-degree murder conviction in Iowa carries a sentence of 50 years in prison.

Wiggins will be sentenced on October 14th.
