(East Moline, IL) -- East Moline Mayor Reggie Freeman is being called a hero for his life-saving actions on Labor Day.

In a post on Facebook, Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza said Freeman performed CPR on a 76-year-old Navy veteran who suffered an apparent heart attack at the Rock Island County Democrats Labor Day picnic.

The former police officer gave the man chest compressions until he revived.
