Lockdown Lifted at Metro High School After Reports of Gunfire Nearby

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Classes have returned to normal at Metro High School in Cedar Rapids after a brief lockdown.

Cedar Rapids Police say they received reports of gunfire in the 1700 block of 16th Street SE just before 9am. Metro High School went into lockdown as a precaution as police investigated the scene. Investigators say Metro High School was not the target and that the area is safe.

Police say there's no further evidence of any threats to the public.
