(Iowa) -- A Vietnam Veteran is riding a bike from Iowa to Texas to honor two of Iowa's World War II veterans.

76 year-old Larry Ritland's bike ride from Iowa City to Sweetwater, Texas will take 26 days to complete. Ritland says he learned about two Iowans, Beverly Jean Moses and Gleanna Roberts, who died in World War II while serving as Women Airforce Service Pilots. The women in the WASP program were trained pilots who tested military aircraft and trained other pilots during the war as male pilots were serving in combat.

Ritland will ride throughout the month of September.
