(Iowa City, IA) -- Controversy continues over the surprise firing of Johnson County Executive Director Guillermo Morales Wednesday.
At Thursday's Board of Supervisors meeting, Supervisor Royceann Porter says the issue should have been dealt with in closed session.
Supervisor V Fixmer-Oraiz, one of two votes against Morales' firing, said "I think it was unacceptable. We failed to follow our own standard practice. I got outvoted and it's a done issue, I get that. However, I wanna look forward and say, 'what are we going to do to make sure this doesn't happen again?'"
Board Chair Rod Sullivan shared statements describing the board's now-former executive director as insubordinate, disrespectful, and argumentative.
