Suspect Who Shot Illinois Police Officers Surrenders After 20 Hour Standoff

(Macomb, IL) -- The suspect accused of shooting two Macomb police officers is in custody after a 20-hour standoff.

The officers were shot Wednesday night while trying to execute an arrest warrant at a home near Western Illinois University.

The school was closed yesterday while the standoff took place.

A 38 year-old suspect has been charged with four counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, with additional charges pending.

Both officers were treated and released from the hospital.
