(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines has received $13 Million from the US Department of Transportation to enhance street safety citywide.

The Safe Streets for All grant will go toward Des Moines' Vision Zero DSM initiative, funding new speed-feedback signs at school zones in 29 locations near 16 high-risk areas and 232 more traffic signals will get retroreflective backplates to prevent red-light running.

There will also be upgrades coming to SE 14th Avenue, Forest Avenue, and MLK and 19th Street including new pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, and road diets.
