Des Moines Man to Spend 60 Years in Prison for Injury, Death of Infants

(Polk County, IA) -- A Des Moines man will spend decades in prison for one infant's death and the injuries of another.

27 year-old Devin Luckett entered an Alford plea, which acknowledges that the evidence presented would likely result in a guilty verdict, on charges of child neglect resulting in death, child neglect as resulting in injury, and animal neglect. Luckett was sentenced to 60 years in prison and must pay $150,000 to the estate of the infant who died in his care in 2023.
