Omaha Fire To Add Support Animal

The Omaha Fire Department announces a new staff member is being added to enhance the well-being of firefighters.

"Mochi," the new Facility Support Dog, is a three-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, who will provide emotional and mental health support to Omaha’s first responders by working into the daily routines of firefighters.

"Mochi" will be sworn in during a badge ceremony on Thursday.

OFD has partnered with "Guide Dogs Of America" and the "First Responders Foundation" to bring Mochi to Omaha without the use of taxpayer dollars for the support of the animal's care.
