(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Coe College in Cedar Rapids is receiving $225,000 from NASA for STEM research.
The college says it will use the funds to purchase a high-performance computing cluster, featuring over one thousand C-P-U cores, eight graphics units, and a new cooling system. It will also feature a plasma module and software for Multiphysics simulation.
The new system will be used to, among other things, aid in a project modeling the ionosphere on the planet Mars, helping researchers create the best glass for spacecraft heading to the planet.
More about the grant and purchase at the Coe College website.
