(Des Moines, IA) -- The Lucas State Office Building, directly east of the Iowa State Capitol, was evacuated late Monday morning due to what authorities are calling a suspicious package. The Iowa State Patrol says the Des Moines Fire Department's Hazmat Team arrived and tested the package, later determining it was not a threat. The Lucas Building, at 321 E. 12th Street, contains offices for the Iowa Secretary of State, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, as well as other state agencies.

The Iowa State Patrol says the circumstances around the package are still being investigated. The evacuation lasted for over two hours.
