Food Bank Of Iowa CEO Retiring At End Of The Year

(Des Moines, IA) -- The CEO of the Food Bank Of Iowa announces she will be retiring at the end of the year.

After nearly nine years of leading the state's largest hunger-relief organization, Michelle Book's retirement will be effective on December 31st, 2024.

Under Book’s leadership, the Food Bank of Iowa saw a 230% increase in food distribution and boosted volunteerism by over 600%.

She also modernized transportation from three old trucks to a fleet of 20 vehicles, including three semi tractor-trailers, raised $20 Million to renovate and expand the Des Moines facility twice, and opened 162 school pantries to serve children and their families

Additionally, Book became Food Bank of Iowa’s third CEO in 2016.

She says this next chapter will give her more time to enjoy family and outside interests.

The board of directors will now conduct a national search for her replacement.
