(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines Police officer shot in the head, in the line of duty, has been discharged from the hospital. The Des Moines Police Department posted pictures on social media of Officer Cade Moritz, as he walked out of MercyOne Medical Center. He'll continue his recovery at a rehabilitation program.

Moritz was joined by Officer Jacob Boekhoff, who was shot in the arm during the same Sept. 16th shooting.

The two were injured while taking 37-year-old Joshua Green of Carlisle into custody after a chase, which began in the 25-hundred block of Eaton Blvd. Police say Green crashed and refused to get out of his vehicle, officres used a Taser, and then Green pulled out a gun and fired, injuring both Moritz and Boekhoff. The officers returned fire, hitting Green, who died at the scene.

Two other officers were involved and are on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The Police Department also posted this message on social media:

Both officers, their families, and the entire Des Moines Police Department thank everyone for their continued support!
