(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A new 750-million dollar data center announced for Cedar Rapids southwest side this week is expected to create 30 high-paying jobs, but that doesn't include the hundreds of others short and long-term jobs surrounding both that project, and the new Google data center.

Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell tells Iowa's News Now that the new data center is expected to generate nearly a billion dollars in property taxes over the next two decades.

Cedar Rapids Council member Ashley Vanorny says the two new data centers planned for southwest Cedar Rapids could be the start of the city becoming a data center hub.
