(Urbandale, IA) -- There may be some major changes coming for dog owners in Urbandale if a new proposed leash law goes into effect.
On Tuesday, the city council held the first reading of a proposed ordinance that would require dogs to be on a leash no more than six feet in length when outside of private property, or be in a fence or on a leash when unattended outside.
It would also require users of Acquiresa dog park to get a pass from the City of Urbandale and have it visible on the dog’s collar while using the park.
Two more readings are necessary before the potential ordinance can be passed.
