(Randalia, IA) -- An eastern Iowa man is facing a number of charges after crashing into a bridge this morning near Randalia, leaving the vehicle hanging off the bridge and causing around $15,000 in bridge damage.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says they responded to reports of a vehicle hitting a bridge on O Avenue, just south of 170th Street at around 9:24 a.m. and discovered a 2009 Mercury Sable hanging over the bridge's edge.

They say the 68-year-old driver, Steve A. Euans, was traveling northbound when he crossed into the other lane, hitting the bridge.

Police say Euans was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and was later found at MercyOne Hospital in Oelwein.

His charges include failure to maintain control, driving without insurance, and operating without registration.

The condition of Euans is not yet known, and his car is totaled.
