(Winneshiek County, IA) -- The person killed when a tractor was hit by a train in Winneshiek County has been identified.
Officers say 60-year-old Carl Kuhn, of Fort Atkinson, was driving a large utility trailer that was carrying an empty grain bin Monday at around 2:45 p.m. when he was ejected after being hit by a train at the intersection of Highway 24 and 128th Street.
First responders attempted live saving measures, but Kuhn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Iowa's News Now reports the conductor told officers that it looked like Kuhn noticed the train at the last second tried to stop, and so did the conductor, but it was too late to stop as the train conductor was going 30 miles per hour.
