(Atkins, IA) -- The city of Atkins is approving the next step in building a new firehouse.
The old one was destroyed in the 2020 Derecho.
Council gave the go-ahead to spend 15-thousand to stakeout the location of the new building. However, some council members say they that there won't be anymore unexpected expenses.
The project is expected to come in at over 5-million, with more than a million covered by FEMA and insurance.
