(East Moline, IL) -- Corrections workers in East Moline are demanding better working conditions after 27 drug-related incidents since last summer.
The union representing over 10,000 Illinois prison workers staged a protest outside the East Moline Correctional Center to highlight the danger of staff exposure to drugs like fentanyl and K2 that is often soaked into incoming mail.
The Illinois Department of Corrections says they will intensify screening efforts to address the issue.
