(Pleasant Hill, IA) -- A Pleasant Hill man is sentenced to 17 years in prison after being convicted of leading police on a chase and injuring an officer.

Police say 40 year-old Daniel Weir was convicted of multiple charges after leading officers on a chase in July of this year. Investigators say an officer pulled Weir over for an expired license plate and running a red light when a female passenger got out of the car and Weir sped away, leading police on a chase at speeds over 90 miles an hour. Weir eventually stopped and tried to escape on foot before being arrested. A police officer suffered a broken leg during the chase.

Weir has been convicted of multiple felonies in the past, including eluding law enforcement in 2020. A judge ordered Weir to serve two 15 year sentences concurrently for the eluding charge and a two year sentence for the charge of interference with official acts. He will have to serve three years in prison before being eligible for parole.
