Lesser-Known Scam May Be Catching Iowans

(Iowa) -- A lesser-known scam may be catching Iowans...it's called brushing.

Brushing is when you receive a package with merchandise you were not expecting.

It means the sender has access to your name, physical address, and presumably much more.

Brushing scammers use your name to show a fake increase in sales and fake good reviews.

Josh Planos with the Better Business Bureau says brushing is more likely to occur during the holidays.

He says people are allowed to keep the merchandise and do not need to return it.
