(Lincoln, Neb.) – The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says an inmate has died.

Corrections says 56-year old Shawnn Nahkahyen-Clearsand died earlier this week at a Lincoln hospital.

He was being held at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.

Nahkahyen-Clearsand’s sentence began on October 30, 2023, 40 to 50 years out of Douglas County for attempted first degree sexual assault of a child.

As is the case whenever an inmate dies in custody, or while being taken into custody, a grand jury will investigate.
