Nebraska, Iowa Drought Worsens

(Lincoln, NE) -- This week's U.S. Drought Monitor shows worsening drought conditions in Nebraska. All of Nebraska is either abnormally dry or in some level of drought. Part of northwest Nebraska and a portion of northeast Nebraska are in extreme (D-3) drought. Nearly all of Nebraska is in severe (D-2) drought. The report does not include rain this week.

The National Weather Service is predicting a dry, cool night with temperatures will be in the 40s and low 50s. Widespread rainfall is expected this weekend, with strong storms possible Sunday.

Iowa's drought has also worsened. The entire state is either in drought or near drought. The western third and the northeastern quarter of Iowa are the most dry, in severe drought.
