(Waverley, IA) -- Another Iowa county is facing a lawsuit from Ames-based Summit Carbon Solutions over a proposed carbon dioxide pipeline, even amidst regulatory changes in other states that could end the project. Summit is suing Bremer County in northern Iowa in federal court, after the Bremer County Board of Supervisors objected to the use of eminent domain in a resolution earlier this year. The suit accuses Bremer County of having local ordinances regulating carbon dioxide pipelines and threatening to fine Summit for not following those guidelines.
Summit had previously sued Story County and Shelby County in federal court, obtaining a permanent injunction against their local regulations for the pipeline.
Summit plans this pipeline project across Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
