(Iowa City, IA) -- The Johnson County Sheriff is partnering with the Iowa City Police Department to find a solution to their building issues.

Sheriff Brad Kunkel has been lobbying the Board of Supervisors for a new county jail.

A recent study shows the building is unsafe and overcrowded.

Iowa City PD are dealing with similar issues at City Hall.

Chief Dustin Liston believes partnering with the county could be the answer to financial concerns politicians and voters have over the cost of new jails.
