(Des Moines, IA) -- A Des Moines man is facing several charges, including OWI, after police say he crashed into a patrol car leaving an officer hurt.
Investigators say 30-year-old Spencer Thompson crashed his car into a patrol car that was stopped at the stoplight at the intersection of East 30th and Dean Avenue Saturday, November 23, leaving the officer with minor injuries.
Police say he then fled from officers at a high rate of speed, reaching speeds of up to 73 mph in a 30 mph zone.
Thompson was taken into custody after his car suffered a mechanical failure.
He is now being held in the Polk County Jail.
