(Des Moines, IA) -- A baby born last month is being cared for by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services after being surrendered under Iowa's Safe Haven Law.
The baby girl born on November 11th will be placed with a foster family until a permanent home is found.
This marks the sixth Safe Haven surrendered in Iowa this year.
The Safe Haven Law allows parents in crisis to surrender infants up to 90 days old at designated locations, such as hospitals or police and fire stations, without fear of prosecution.
