(Muscatine, IA) -- Two women from Cedar Rapids are dead and a police officer is recovering this morning from injuries he suffered during a car chase in eastern Iowa yesterday.

The chase started when Muscatine Police say they tried to pullover 36 year-old Britney Miles for reportedly shooting at people from her vehicle.

Police say the officer in pursuit was injured when he lost control of his vehicle near the Cedar River.

Iowa State Patrol joined the chase and say 27 year-old Olivia Alvarez was killed when Miles vehicle hit hers head-on while going the wrong way on Highway 218 near Riverside.
