USDA to Invest $6.3 Billion in Rural Infrastructure

(Iowa) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing billion in rural infrastructure in 44 states, including Iowa.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack announced the USDA will spend $6.3 billion dollars for upgrades to rural infrastructure across the country. More than 200 projects will receive funding. In Iowa, Rock Rapids Municipal Utilities received $25 million dollars to improve its wastewater treatment facility.

Nationwide, the funds are going toward strengthening the electric grid, improving water quality, and creating new jobs.
