(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Hundreds of parents want the Cedar Rapids Community School District to pause a new program.

The petition presented to the Board Monday asks for a delay in rolling out the Career Pathways Program.

The program would require freshman to choose a mandatory career-based elective class beginning next year.

Over 600 parents who want the Board to pump the brakes on the plan say it lacks specifics, and faces unaddressed concerns from parents, students and teachers.

It's slated to start in the 2025-26 school year.
