(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A major Cedar Rapids infrastructure project will cost over 35% more than originally estimated.
Cedar Rapids City Council is approving a bid of almost $15-million from General Constructors of the Quad Cities to build the LightLine Bridge project over the Cedar River.
That's an increase of nearly $4-million over the original cost estimate.
The pedestrian and bicycle bridge will connect NewBo and Czech Village and replace the old CRANDIC bridge.
The project cost will be split 50-50 between public funds and private dollars.
