(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Drinking water in Cedar Rapids had one of its highest concentrations of nitrate contamination this year.

The city says heavy spring rains drove levels to their highest rate in 15 years, but still shy of the federal limit.

Research shows ongoing exposure to high nitrate levels can cause cancers and birth defects.
