(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Repairs have begun at a Cedar Rapids apartment complex declared structurally unsafe earlier this year.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette says a new owner has begun to address several problems identified by engineers at the Westhill Village Apartments on Seminole Avenue NW.
Tenants of the five-building complex were forced to leave in January and February of this year due to sagging ceilings, cracked walls, and termite issues.
The complex was sold to a new owner at the end of August.
The city says that new owner, who has begun repairs, will have to get a registered design professional’s opinion before the buildings can be occupied again.
