(Rock Island, IL) -- An autopsy is being performed today on a 22 year-old man who died in an officer-involved shooting in the Quad Cities yesterday.
Rock Island Police say officers tried to detain a suspicious man Sunday afternoon just before 3:30 p.m. near 12th Street and 24th Avenue.
Police say the man jumped into a running car, dragging an officer who was trying to remove him from the vehicle.
Investigators say the officer then shot the man, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
R.I.P.D. says the officer involved was treated and released and is on administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation.
