A grand jury finds no criminal conduct on the part of Sarpy County Sheriff’s Deputies who returned fire with an armed suspect last October.
As a result, no criminal charges are recommended.
Deputies responded to a 911 call that 44-year old Rory Geiger had shot his wife at their residence.
Investigators say Rory Geiger fired at deputies on scene, at which time a deputy returned fire, striking Geiger, who died of his injuries.
Investigators say Geiger shot and killed his wife. Rebecca Geiger was a teacher at Omaha Westside High School.
If a person dies while being apprehended or while in the custody of law enforcement or detention personnel, Nebraska law mandates that a grand jury review evidence and determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
