(Lincoln, NE) -- A man is accused of stealing EBT food benefit cards meant for people staying at the People’s City Mission in Lincoln.
Eight victims reported they did not receive their cards that had been mailed to them at the mission.
Police say they investigated and discovered 53-year-old Lee Carr, an employee of the mission made 63 grocery purchases using the cards, totaling more than $3,000 in unauthorized EBT purchases.
Carr was arrested and is charged with Public Assistance Fraud over $1500, a Class IV Felony. If convicted, Carr could be sentenced to a maximum of two years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, and ordered to pay restitution.
