(Groton, CT) -- An event for the USS Iowa submarine is being held at the Naval Submarine Base New London on Saturday, April 5th.
The Virginia-class fast-attack nuclear-powered submarine has now been commissioned for service by the U.S. Navy. Iowa's most recent namesake will be in service to the military over the next few decades. The commissioning ceremony formally accepts the vessel into active service.
