The suspect accused of murder in a nearly 40-year-old Iowa cold case is pleading not guilty.

61-year-old Robert Allen Davis of Council Bluffs pleaded not guilty in Harrison County court on Monday in the death of his then-girlfriend, Barbara Lenz, who was last seen in May of 1989.

Lenz lived in Woodbine and was 31 at the time of her disappearance. Her body has not been found.

Davis was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in March of this year.
