(Johnson County, IA) -- The Johnson County Board wants Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to veto a bill passed by the legislature requiring counties that house regent universities to elect supervisors by district rather than at-large.

The Board calls the bill unjust, targeted interference.

Supervisors say it's unfair to require Johnson, Story and Black Hawk counties to elect by district while not requiring large counties like Polk, Linn, and Scott to do so.

Supporters of the bill say it's needed to give rural voters more of a voice in counties where college students are eligible to vote.
