A Des Moines man is convicted of first-degree murder and burglary after breaking into a hotel room and killing another man last year.

32-year-old Joshua Carmody kicked in the door of the room that Sayvon Propps and Danielle Looney were staying in at the Ramada Inn near the Des Moines International Airport. Propps died at the scene and Carmody was shot 11 times.

Looney testified she and Carmody were in an on-and-off relationship, and he was upset she and Propps were in a relationship.

The jury deliberated for an hour before delivering the guilty verdict on Friday. Carmody faces life in prison.
