(Des Moines, IA) -- A bill that would up the fines for violations of open records and meetings laws is headed to the Governor's desk. House File 706 was initially proposed in response to alleged violations by the City of Davenport after an apartment building collapsed. Governor Reynolds vetoed similar legislation last year, citing language that is not present in the 2025 version.
