(West Des Moines, IA) -- A West Des Moines man has been sentenced to two years in prison for fatally striking a woman with his truck in a Hy-Vee parking lot.
Jordan Allen, 35, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the October 2024 death of 67-year-old Sheila Albert. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Hy-Vee on East Euclid Avenue in Des Moines. Investigators say Allen ran a stop sign and drove the wrong way before hitting Albert, who later died from her injuries.
Although a plea agreement had recommended probation, the judge imposed a prison sentence. Allen has since filed an appeal and was released on a $5,000 bond pending further proceedings.
