(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Area Religious Council is participating in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday.
The drive is a partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers. To participate, people can leave a bag of non-perishable food or other items at their mailboxes on Saturday morning, May 10th. When the letter carrier arrives, he or she will pick up the bag of donations and take it to the DMARC location on Des Moines' south side. There, the food will be sorted and distributed to food pantries throughout the Des Moines area.
DMARC says it estimates that approximately 30,000 pounds of food will be donated during Saturday's Stamp Out Hunger drive. More information, including how to volunteer, is available at the DMARC website.
