(Iowa) -- Deaths from drug overdoses are down in Iowa and across the country. New data from the Centers for Disease Control shows overdose deaths dropped 7 percent in Iowa last year. Nationwide, the number has dropped by almost 27 percent, or 30,000 fewer deaths. Paramedics in Scott County attribute the drop to the availability of Narcan, which can reverse the effects of a drug overdose. It's the largest drop in drug overdose deaths since the CDC began collecting data in 1980.
