(OMAHA, NE) – The Malcolm X Foundation has announced plans to expand its Cultural Education Center and Museum in North Omaha, near the site of Malcolm X’s birth.
The announcement came Thursday as the city prepares to mark what would have been Malcolm X’s 100th birthday on Monday. Nebraska officially recognized May 19 as “Malcolm X Day” in 2024. Guests at the event included Omaha’s first Black mayor, John Ewing Jr., elected just days earlier, and Malcolm X's daughter, Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz.
A full schedule of events runs through June 1 at mx100.org.
