(Des Moines, IA) -- A driver was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a short chase while driving the wrong way in Downtown Des Moines.
According to city police, the suspect was traveling the wrong way on Grand Avenue near the Pappajohn Sculpture Park when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over, leading police on a brief pursuit before fleeing on foot. The suspect was later apprehended and found to be in possession of a handgun.
During the incident, one of the responding officers was involved in a separate crash. The officer was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
