(Iowa) -- The Iowa State Treasurer's Office is announcing a change to savings accounts for Iowans with disabilities.
Effective immediately, the minimum contribution amount to open an Iowa's Achieving a Better Life Experience or, IAble Account, has been reduced to one dollar. Previously, it took a minimum of $25 dollars for eligible Iowans to open an account. Funds from IAble savings accounts can be used on qualifying disability expenses, such as basic living expenses, employment training, and more. State Treasurer Roby Smith says the reduction of the minimum contribution amount will make IAble accounts more accessible for qualifying Iowans.
More information on the program is available on the IAble website.
