A Johnston man is dead after a head-on crash in Story County at Highway 30 and Sand Hill Trail east of Ames at 11:30 p.m on Wednesday.
The Story County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Ashley Taylor of Slater was driving a 2017 Jeep Renegade westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 30, crashing into a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by 26-year-old Christian Royston.
He died from his injuries at the scene.
Taylor was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital with serious injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
